Sewing up a Family Scrapbook Page

Hi! Candice here with a quick and easy way to try Sewing up a Family Scrapbook Page.

This page embodies a quote about families. Ann Butler’s quilt-themed stamps make it perfect!

Step 1:

Choose a patterned paper and select Ann Butler Colorbox Crafter’s Inks to match. Trim the patterned paper to make an 11 1/2 “ square. Draw a pencil line 2 3/4” from the edge on the left side of the page. This will not show, but only make it easier to line up your elements.

Step 2:

Stamp two pieces of 2 3/4” card stock in each color. Mount one of each on a black 3” square of card stock.

Tips:

Using a card stock color which is similar to the ink colors makes the squares blend with the paper.
Mounting the first three squares on black card stock helps make the images pop.

Step 3:

Line up two of the mounted squares, one on each end of the pencil line. Place the points of each square on the line to make sure it stays straight. Only use adhesive in the center of each square. Place the third square in the center, overlapping the points of the first two squares. Slide the remaining unmounted stamped squares under the mounted ones along the edge. Trim off the excess. Line up the mounted squares along the pencil line and tuck the remaining squares behind the mounted ones.

Step 4:

Using two pieces of white die-cut card stock, add trim along the edge of the squares.

Stencil FAMILY on white card stock and trim each letter. Mount each letter on black card stock.

Note: the trimmed squares will not all be the same width, but keep the height the same for continuity. Adhere the mounted letters across the top of the page.

These beautiful stenciled letters add a wonderful effect to your page title.

Note: Placing the mounted letters in a random pattern relieves you of having to worry about alignment.

Step 5:

Mount the photo on black card stock. Apply the adhesive only to the bottom and sides of the photo to allow a pocket to be formed and adhere it to the page. Print or write your journaling info, add a folded block to the top of the tag and insert it behind the picture.

Note: For extra personalization, hand-write your journaling. It won’t show in the initial layout, but your descendants will be thrilled to see it.

Step 6:

Print the quilt quote on white card stock. Using the large Ann Butler Rhinestone Genie oval template, trace the oval on the back side of your card stock and trim.

Tip: Holding the printed image up to a window or using a light box enables you to get this straight. Mount the white oval on black card stock and trim the edge with decorative scissors. Place the oval back over the quilt quote. Using matching pens to color in the circle around the edge. Mount the oval so that it just covers the edge of the photo.

Note: This in an out-of-the-box use for your Rhinestone Genie templates. The use of rhinestones would be a little too fancy for this page, but the pens are perfect.

Step 7:

Mount the page on black card stock to give it a nice finished look.
