Quick and Easy Faux Quilted Festive Votives

Good Morning faux quilting fans!  Beth here on the blog today to share my Faux Quilted Festive Votives featuring Colorbox® Background Basics stamps by Ann Butler and a bright monochromatic color scheme.

Here’s how I made it

STEP ONE:

Load the Colorbox® Background Basics by Ann Butler stamps with Colorbox Crafter’s® Ink by Ann Butler and stamp onto matching colored tissue paper.  I stamped the Basket, Checks, Diamonds and Picnic randomly to fill an entire sheet of tissue paper using the Aquamarine and Limelight inks.

STEP TWO:

Measure and cut a rectangle that is a bit larger than your glass votive.  This technique would work on almost any glass surface, which would make a great upcycle!  Place a quarter size dollop of Tombow MONO Aqua Liquid Glue on a Blending Palette or paper plate.

STEP THREE:

Apply MONO Aqua to exterior of glass votive with an old paintbrush.  Roll the stamped tissue paper around the votive.  Use your fingers to make sure that you get a good adhesion.

STEP FOUR:

Trim the length of the tissue paper to fit.  Then apply a coat of MONO Aqua over top of the tissue paper. Once the tissue paper absorbs the glue it becomes translucent and the quilt patterns from the stamps really POP!

STEP FIVE:

Once the glue dries completely, trim the excess tissue paper from the top and bottom of the votive. Embellish with trim in a coordinating color.  I used brightly colored vintage rick rack that I recently discovered at my local antique store.
