Hi all,
Paula here today and I’ve been playing again with reinkers and Iridescents to make fun backgrounds. I’ve called this faux watercolor, only because that’s what it reminds me of.
Let’s get started! These are the supplies I used:
- White cardstock
- Iridescents by EarthSafe Finishes in Tangelo
- Colorbox Crafter’s by Ann Butler Re-Inkers in Sunshine, Berry and Tangelo
- Additional colored cardstock for layering/matting
- Ribbon, Sentiment Stamp, Large image stamp, White Ink, Embossing Die (and machine to emboss)
- Cotton balls, extra water in a cup
- Optional: heat gun
Steps to recreate:
1. I started by pouring a little of the Tangelo Iridescent into a cup and adding a bit of water. I did not measure, but you want this thinned out – not super runny. I then brushed it across the entire piece of cardstock for the image (I made a bit bigger than what I knew I wanted, and would cut it down to the size I needed later).
2. Let this dry or use a heat gun to speed up the process. I was working on something else, so I just let it air dry.
3. Using your reinkers, drop random dots around the painted Iridescent. I used a cotton ball dipped in water and blended the colors. Let this dry. I continued dropping them until I had the desired look. IF you choose to add more drops before it’s dry, that’s totally fine and you’ll get a different look.
4. That’s it for your background. It’s really that simple and I love the look!
5. Next I used a poppy stamp image, stamping with white ink on the background. I used white because I wanted it to somewhat fade into the background. I embossed an image to mat behind this image. To do that, I used an embossing folder. Before I ran it through the machine, I covered the entire area with Colorbox Crafter’s Ink by Ann Butler in Berry. Place your cardstock (white) inside the embossing folder and run through the embossing/die cut machine. I started layering and matting, then added a sentiment and ribbon.
I love how this simple little card turned out (and I’m being ‘all about simple’ these days)! I hope you enjoy!
Have a great Wednesday everyone!
Paula
