Faux Washi Tape with Faux Quilting Stamps

Hello my dear crafty friends! Irit is here with my new tutorial:  Faux washi tape made with Faux Quilting stamps and Ann Butler’s Crafter’s Inks.

It’s a very easy way to make your own washi tapes in different colors and patterns and then to use your new tapes for any kind of crafty project.

This is my own version  of faux washi tape, made with medical paper tape you can buy in every drugstore for a very low cost. So buy one and you can make your washi in no time!

1.Adhere 6 long strips of paper tape over some non sticky surface: I used the original one, but any smooth plastic  works. Adhere your tapes with spaces: we are going to color them with inks and we don’t want to combine colors this time. So make like 1/2” gap between each tape over the surface.

2. Color each strip with different Ann Butler’s  Crafter’s ink, using a make – up sponge or any other tool you own.

Let the ink dry a lot! I didn’t want to dry it with a heat gun as I was not sure about the result for the backside delicate tape adhesive.

3.Now re- arrange your dry  painted strips close one to another as we are going to stamp over them with one single stamp.  I did this over a vellum as I wanted the ” washi” remain  transluscent.

Pick any  2” stamp pattern you like and use it to make 2 different colored tapes with the same pattern. Use any  black permanent ink you own.

Now I just made this sample card with diagonal cutting of my stamped faux tapes  over dry embossed background. Then I inked both inner panel and the background card with Aquamarine ink and added some small embellishments. The circled sentiment is a double die cut and I inked it a bit around
